New Project

So we live on the lake (technically) of course it's not like we have a lake view or anything.  But one really nice perk is that we can pull water from it to irrigate our lawn for a very nominal yearly fee.  Dave has spent the last few weeks researching all about pumps and water pressure and finally decided on the needed pipe, pump and filter system.  It's not super simple because we are about 1000 feet off the lake so we had quite the distance to travel, lucky though we're not more than a 15 foot elevation change from it or this wouldn't have been possible.  The project isn't completely done yet but the first and major part is done.  Here are some pictures:

starting with the rented trencher.

this is near the house where the waterline will tie in to the sprinklers.

our other two rented ditch diggers :)
So here's the Saturday recap:

1. 9:00         Start
2. 9:10        Hit water line
3. 9:10:01  Shout, scream and run to street to turn of water. (drink beer to recover composure)
4. 10:00       run ditches from house for electrical and water.
5. 12:00       run trench to lake
6. 12:30       get trencher stuck in sand on beach, beg (and offer beer to) neighbor Rob to come help
                    pull out trencher.

Here are some pictures of them taking plywood down to the lake to put it under the trencher for traction.

7. 2PM get trencher back to house and start putting pipe in the trench
8. 4PM finish putting the pipe in.
9. 6PM fix broken water pipe and turn back on water to house, yippee!!!
10. 7PM eat dinner and collapse from exhaustion and of course all the beer drinking.

We ran out of pipe so more was ordered and Greyson and David are seen here on Wednesday dragging it down to the lake.

The last few nights David has been mixing Concrete and pouring the small pad that will have the pump on it.  We hope to hook the pump up this weekend to give it a try, then hook it into the sprinklers after we know it's working

This project is all in the name of Green Grass:  All three of us love this yard and want to keep it nice and green all summer.

Stay tuned for the second half...where we hope to finish this project with less eventful things to blog about. :)
